  Hospice East Rand History
Hospice East Rand was founded in Benoni in 1986. In 1987 a little house in Ampthill Avenue was purchased, renovated and utilised as a centre. The organisation bought the current property at 218 Kemston Avenue in 1988 and the necessary additions and alterations were made. The centre was used for training courses, fundraising, administration and a day care centre for ambulant patients. In 1990 an additional property (directly behind the main property in Victoria Avenue) was purchased and in 1995 this house was renovated into a five bed In Patient Unit. In 1998 with the invaluable financial assistance of the Timken foundation and Murray & Roberts, a five bed (single room) Frail Care Centre was added. A property was purchased in Vosloorus in 2006 and renovated to house the Vosloorus Day Care Centre expansion project.
