Hospice funding is an ongoing concern as no government grants or funding is received. Every hospice is autonomous in terms of fundraising. Currently Hospice East Rand runs nine charity shops and a book shop. Various fund raising events are organised and held by hospice including two fetes per year. However, hospice still relies on the support and generosity of the public to maintain its facilities and for expansion projects such as our Care Centre in Vosloorus. Special events are held to ensure additional income and create awareness. We host the following events on a regular basis. |

Two fetes are held each year at Hospice East Rand in Benoni. One in May and the Christmas fete in November. | ||

The "Tree of Memories Ceremony", held annually at the end of November, is in memory of loved ones who have passed on. | ||
|
"Voices for Hospice" is held every second year and is the world's largest regular singing event. Most hospices internationally take part. | ||
|
Other events such as golf days, fashion shows, "Hairless for Hospice", baby competitions, "Carols by Candlelight" are also organised during the year. | ||
